Evangelina Sánchez and Margarito Larios have been the leaders of this project. They strive to offer those who love high quality food an excellent option, here in Puerto Vallarta. During ten years, their steady efforts have positioned them as one of the prominent gastronomic references of the region. In this place, constantly visited by tourists, it is also possible to find silver jewelry, and a great variety of oleo paintings signed by renowned artists.

Margarito & Eva

Everything started as a dream cherished by Evangelina Sánchez. She wished to become the owner of a national and international gourmet restaurant with live music and surrounded by a romantic and fresh natural environment. A restaurant attractive for the local community and for the international visitors. In 1997 it was possible for Eva to acquire what used to be Chilli Willis restaurant, owned by Sr. Juárez. The place was absolutely suitable for her purposes. It is located in the Old Vallarta area, at the Río Cuale Island , where the two branches of the Río Cuale encircle an exuberant piece of land known as the Río Cuale Island. To make her dreams come true, Eva was supported by many people, by her family and especially by Margarito Larios , her husband and after some time, The River Café finally opened its doors.

The location was extensively remodeled and decorated with an aristocratic Mexican rural style. At the entrance there is a showy fountain, which, together with the lushness of the tropical vegetation enhances the fresh, pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant by the river. Oleo paintings with an Indian essence create an especial mystic ambiance, enhanced by the soft romantic candle light at the twilight.

The River Café has gone through several changes and remodeling works during its first ten years of existence, always with the aim to please our clients, who have made possible its spectacular development.
